It is truly my goal to provide VALUE to you. Being a woman, wife, and mother is complex. There are so many aspects of daily life and layers we can tend to. I talk to ALOT of women who want to be healthy for their family, feel good in their own skin, and have more energy. I struggle with this too, so you aren’t alone.
The Lord only gave us one body. I do believe it’s a responsibility of ours to take care of our temple. I LOVE food and to cook. So I also need to workout, make healthy recipes, and create a good balance in my health and fitness. For me personally, if I set super strict guidelines for my diet I will feel totally deprived and fall off after a week. There has to be both consistency and discipline, yet grace because life isn’t perfect.
From 2012 to 2015’ish I was in the best shape of my life doing these home workouts, drinking Shakeology, and using the performance line products. I believed in them so much I became a coach. I wasn’t following Christ at the time, and I loved to have fun. I was a bit of a party animal on the weekends. Unfortunately, it got to the point where I stopped focusing on my health because partying was more important at that time (oh man how I’ve changed!). I quit my workouts, my fitness journey, and the coaching business altogether.
Since then, I still did the workouts here and there. I went through a breakup in the time period before meeting my husband. I had gained a lot of weight from drinking, eating whatever I wanted, and because I stopped working out. I joined CrossFit and did that for about a year, but it was VERY expensive; then the pandemic hit.
In order to get ready for my wedding I went back to my old trusted home workouts. I had an online library of TONS of workouts that I could pick and choose from. Also, a one year subscription was cheaper than one month of CrossFit. I kept up with it mostly and then I got pregnant a few months after I got married. Postpartum, I was able to shed the weight again. ALOT of moms have a difficult time postpartum; I was one of them. I had PPD/PPA and I wasn’t myself for a few months. When I finally decided to get back into taking care of all aspects of my health, this community was a total game changer for me.
I really focused on my spiritual growth and made sure I was spending time in prayer and in my Bible. It’s also amazing how taking 20-30 minutes a day to exercise improved my energy levels, mental health, boosted my mood, and made me feel better physically. I was starting to look and feel like myself again. My husband was loving the physical changes he saw in me as well. Focusing on nutrition was also imperative. As a bonus, my own personal coach (and friend) loves Jesus too and I gained a community of like minded women who had the same values. I had a community again in a time where motherhood felt very lonely.
Sometimes after having a baby you can look in the mirror and not recognize who is staring back at you. There are so many feelings and emotions (both good and bad). I didn’t recognize that girl. I was able to achieve these results with 20-30 minute workouts, at home with minimal equipment (dumbbells), portion control tupperware containers (and sometimes a simple “plate it” method when I needed to eyeball stuff).
If you want to learn more/purchase about the programs I used, keep reading!
The first time around when I got my results in 2012-2014 I completed a hodge podge of workouts, but my favorite was 21 Day Fix with shakeology. It was 30 minutes a day, seven days a week, for 21 days. It could be completed as many times as you wish. I didn’t workout 7 days a week but I did the program and nutrition over a period of a few months. I drank Shakeology for breakfast, for years LOL. I even would make chocolate (with coconut oil) or make a mug cake with it if I was craving something sweet.
If for some reason you would prefer the performance line bundle with the program, that option is available here. The performance line includes Energize and Recover. Energize is a pre-workout that gives you natural energy and focus without the jitters, and Recovery helps with muscle soreness; both are NSF certified.
The program I completed after Remy was born is called Job 1. The workouts are 20 minutes and the program is completed in 4 weeks. It was a new mama’s dream since the workouts were so short, but very effective. I also decided to drink Shakeology again; the vitamins, minerals, and superfoods are unmatched for your postpartum period. I still drink it, pregnant with my second (just at a different time of day than my prenatal vitamin). Again, this program without the Shakeology but bundled with the performance line instead is available here.
The last “must have” I’m going to recommend is definitely getting the Energize if it doesn’t come with your bundle. It gives me that extra natural energy (without the jitters or crash) and focus to get through my workouts. I even drink it in place of my afternoon cup of coffee sometimes when I need a boost to take care of my daughter or get chores done around the house! The flavor is delicious and it’s definitely refreshing. I’ve had bad experiences with other pre-workouts before (like the kind where you have to stop your workout and lay on the couch because you feel like you are going to die), but never this one! The flavors I personally love are lemonde, mixed berry, and strawberry lemonade! You can get this as an add on here.
With the purchase of these programs comes a year long subscription to Beachbody on demand, so once you are done with that particular program, there are hundreds of others to choose from. There were even pre-natal and post-natal workouts I would randomly do here and there with my second pregnancy! There is something for everyone, you won’t get bored, and can do it all from the comfort of your own home even if you have a small space. I have personally done the other workouts as well, just these were the two programs I completed from start to finish and got awesome results! The rest of the workouts I did to maintain and stay active, while mixing it up!
